Ben Showalter is a family medicine physician originally from Boise, Idaho. He pursued undergraduate studies at Texas Christian University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then went on to complete medical school at the University of Washington. During medical school, he participated in the WWAMI training program where he completed a variety of different medical rotations across the Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho regions. After graduating medical school, he completed 3 years of training in Family Medicine at Full Circle Health Family Medicine Residency of Idaho. This residency training provided ample opportunity to care for a culturally diverse and underserved patient population, teaching him core skills in empathy, humility, and compassion.
As a family medicine provider, Ben enjoys caring for all people for any problem. Through shared decision-making and a team-based approach, he strives to empower patients to take charge in their treatment plans and to really understand their health. Though he enjoys all areas of healthcare, he has particular interest in preventative medicine, lifestyle medicine, food as medicine, and medical education. Ben also has a passion for the changing climate and its effect on human health. He is currently pursuing a fellowship in Climate Health Science & Policy through the University of Colorado.
When he is not working, Ben loves to get outside and enjoy nature’s many wonders. He loves skiing in the winter, biking in the summer, fishing and camping, and playing disc golf at local parks with his wife. When he is not outside trying not to hurt himself on the ski slopes or biking trails, you can probably find him inside playing board games or watching a movie.
